A multipoint lock runs the full height of the door edge and latches at several points at once — typically a center latch plus bolts or hooks above and below, all driven by one lift of the handle. They're common on newer entry doors, patio and French doors, and storm doors, and they seal and secure better than a single deadbolt.
The catch: when one fails, many locksmiths won't touch it — the hardware is specialized and parts can be tricky to match. That's the work we do. We repair and adjust multipoint systems, replace failed gearboxes and lock strips when parts are available, and tell you straight when a full replacement makes more sense.

You lift the handle but the bolts and hooks never throw, or the key turns without locking anything — classic signs the gearbox inside the door has failed.
If you have to slam, lift, or lean on the door to get it to lock, the door has usually sagged out of alignment with its latch points. Often an adjustment — not a replacement — fixes it.
A handle that flops loosely or takes real force to move means wear inside the mechanism. Caught early, it's a far smaller repair than a seized lock.
Our technician inspects the whole system — gearbox, lock strip, keeps, hinges, and door alignment — because what looks like a dead lock is often a door that has settled a quarter inch. When hardware has genuinely failed, we source matching gearboxes and lock strips where parts are available, including for many discontinued systems, and we upgrade cylinders and handles while we're in there if you want them.
